Recent Advances in Soft Switching Converters and theirApplications

 

SOFT SWITCHING CONVERTERS are becoming more and more important in power conversion. Soft switching is a possible way of reducing losses in power electronic switches. The expression "soft switching" actually refers to the operation of power electronic switches as zero-voltage switches (ZVS) and/or zero-current switches (ZCS). Soft switching converters have been experiencing, in terms of research and applications, a constant growth during the last decades. The efforts of research have led to a rapid development of different soft switching converter topologies, modulation techniques, and control strategies. Nevertheless, many interesting aspects, such as efficiency improvement, optimized parameters, classification, increasing power density and switching frequency, decreasing circulating currents of auxiliary circuits and new applications, still require more investigation. We encourage all researchers working in this area to submit papers to this Special Session. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

ü   New auxiliary soft switching circuits;

ü   Soft switching based (dc-dc, dc-ac, ac-dc, ac-ac) converters;

ü   Soft switching converters with high switching frequency;

ü   New auxiliary circuits for achieving soft switching by using less number of components;

ü   Classification of soft switching converters;

ü   New modulation and control strategies for soft switching converters;

ü   Industrial applications of soft switching converters;

ü   Soft switching converters for renewable energy applications;

ü   Soft switching converters for electric vehicles;

ü   Parameters optimization.
